Key Signs Your Computer is Reaching Its Limit
Before spending money on repairs, review whether your computer is showing these obsolescence indicators:
- Operating System End of Support: Windows 10 Home and Pro support ended on October 14, 2025. If a computer cannot run Windows 11, evaluate supported alternatives, eligibility for a temporary Windows 10 Extended Security Updates option, and the cost and suitability of replacement. Compatibility alone does not mean every computer must immediately be replaced.
- Severe Performance Bottlenecks: Basic tasks like opening web browsers, checking emails, or opening office files take several minutes. Hard drives wear down over time and older processors struggle with modern web requirements.
- Hardware Wear & Failures: Loud fan noises, unexpected system crashes, blue screens, or failing batteries on laptops are indicators that key components are failing.
- High Cost of Repairs: If a system diagnostics test indicates a motherboard or screen replacement is required, the repair bill often exceeds the value of a modern, budget-friendly replacement.
